UNCHANGING

UNCHANGING

My parents getting old, my children growing fast, my joints aching.. I don’t like change.  Change of schedule, a new task, a different routine often throw me off.. A faithful lessee transferring to another home, letting go of a helper who cannot get along with the others, a friend getting sick, a friend leaving.. It’s so sad. I don’t want change (you’re setting a bad example Ninang!) But I realized change is God’s ally (ohhhK Ninang, now you’re talking sense..).

So leave the past, be transformed, move forward. There is something better, don’t get too comfortable, this is not your home (heaven is!).  You are not just what you do, what you have been, and even what you are now (we will be transformed at the “last trumpet”). You’ve got to walk, you’ve got to run, you’ve got to jump (move! well maybe not with the aching joints 😋). You’ve got to change. Everybody will change. Everything..

Point Ninang? (and Advise to self and people who feel sad about changes around them..)

We don’t need to love change. It’s ok. Though we must.. though we will.. though we need it. Because in the midst of all these changes and challenges, and sadness, the going and leaving, we can hold on to something unchanging- our God. He is our anchor and our cornerstone. We don’t have to be afraid or be lonely about the changes which happen and resist those that are necessary.  He assures us He won’t and He alone is Who we need.   Change is God’s ally to point us to Himself.. The Unchanging One we can always depend on.. And not just to like.. But to Love.. and grow closer to as we change (!) within..

“Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

“I the Lord do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” (Malachi 3:6)

“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” – The Lord God to His people in Jeremiah 31:3

“Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed– in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:51-52)

– Updated ninang thoughts before sleeping, and  while having breakfast (with suggested edits from Ninong. Just so many changes in this article! I love change! 😬 ..especially of a friend getting well Lord– Agree Ninang! 🙂)
