Now this Duterte thing (Ninang ko Po!)
I don’t know what to say about all his curses and threats amidst his desire and motive to give what is best for our country. There is really some disconnection.
But let me ask you, what response do you think will help him do what is best for our country.
-Cursing back? Really?
Cursing with him? Of course not!
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)
-Bashing him in the national and international community (hello Filipino journalists!)?
Do you think He will learn to respond better, choose His words more carefully, be more thoughtful at 71 years old?! He was that when he was campaigning. And most of the Filipinos still voted for him. Just make sure it’s not just the ratings you’re after. Or worse yet, unrest, distrust, and hopelessness in our country. How can you really help? You think. You know better.
– Tolerate him? Support him? Definitely not the way he talks!
“Pray for me”. Duterte always says. He knows his weaknesses, though he may have will power and the right heart to serve our nation. “Pray for me”, he says because he is up against people of power, and people in bondage to crime, poverty, and sin. “Pray for me” because I think he really has no idea how to behave as a diplomatic President under the scrutiny of all people especially those who can think and speak for themselves (mostly the intellectuals). He just wants to represent those who can’t.
Let’s continue to pray for our President. Let’s cover his back because we are the people of this country and we (and we have to heed to the majority), in a non-fraudulent election, in a democratic process, made him President. We, the Filipinos. And we stand together. We should really.. Now, more than ever. That’s change that should come from us. Let’s do our work and pray harder than ever. Only if you believe.. I pray and hope you do.
“Jesus looked at them and said, With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 4:6-7)
Heavenly Father, we pray for our President, President Duterte, his cabinets, the people who work for and with him in lifting up this country, and giving this country and our people what they think, and we pray what your will, is Best for us. Grant them wisdom, discernment, prudence, courage, strength, protection, faith in You (!), love for you above all and for our countrymen as themselves, hope, and Your Presence in all their activities and endeavors. May your will be done. And may our country and countrymen give you glory, and honor, and thanks, and praise. We need you Oh God, now and always. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
