THE DARK SIDE

THE DARK SIDE

Once in a while we all grope in the dark. Some are used to it and find the light themselves. Some succumb to it and need a hand to find their way. Others bask in darkness for they haven’t known what light can bring.

Extreme loneliness, an unbearable challenge, hopelessness, sin – the darkness in our lives can dawn on us in several ways. And not knowing where to go in the stark blackness is not nearly as oppressive as thinking you belong there in the first place. We don’t belong in the dark.

“Let there be light.” Why else will God create light on the first day of creation. We were not meant to grope in the dark. We were meant to see beauty and colors all around us. “And he separated the light from the darkness.” We may intermittently be in the dark but we were meant to see light and through the light. “God saw that the light was good.” We were meant for good.

Darkness takes our life. Even while we breathe. We gasp for air though there is enough. We cry for help.. but within.. and to no one. People who had near-death experience said there is “light at the end of the tunnel”. What will cause us to believe there is none in life? But a decision not to believe?

“In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” Faith brings life. Faith in a God who loves us brings light. Light shines through darkness when we humble ourselves and believe. No matter what darkness dictates.

Believe and cry for help to One who can answer- God, family, friends. Open your eyes to God’s love that shimmers in the dark. Let it lead you to the light. Let it lead you to life.. once more.

your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.”
